Description
In every Hindu wedding, bride and groom take 7 full circles or Phere around the holy fire walking clockwise committing to 7 vows or promises with each Phere. The popular name of this Hindu Wedding tradition is also called "Saat Phere"
The couples are tied together with the dupattas, or chunis forming a knot (Wedding Knot) from the Granthi Bandhanam ritual, which is used to keep the couple united as they make their rounds.
The wedding vows are taken in the presence of their family, relatives and friends as witness of their holy tie. No Hindu wedding is considered complete without these holy vows.
This is the way for couples to confirm their commitment and sincerity to the new relationship they are entering into.
